Why does nobody talk about the altitude gain on the Pictured Rocks loop

I did the 42-mile loop last month and the elevation profile on the map said 2,100 feet, but my watch logged closer to 3,400, has anyone else noticed the maps are off or was my GPS just glitching?

Nah mine logged 3,200 too, trust the watch over the map.

All these watches and apps are guessing anyway. @abby_fisher might be right that 3,200 feels closer, but does an extra 1,300 feet really change your trip that much? I mean, you were already out there for 42 miles, so what's a few more climbs? GPS units bounce around all the time, especially under tree cover, and that whole area is super thick with pines. Unless you were dying on a specific hill, I would not lose sleep over the exact number.
