My dad told me to put a layer of sand under my patio pavers and I should have listened
He said it would help with drainage and stop them from shifting. I skipped it to save a day of work, and after one heavy rain last month, the whole corner is uneven and pooling water. Anyone else had to redo a patio because they cut a corner?

You skipped the sand... that's the one step you really can't skip.

Tbh my uncle gave me the exact same advice and I blew it off too. Ngl I had to pull up every single paver last summer after a storm washed out the base. It took me three weekends to fix it, way longer than laying the sand would have. You just can't beat that solid, level base for keeping everything in place.
