Overheard my neighbor say he waters his grass for 45 minutes every single day
I asked him why and he said because the sprinkler timer says to do it. Told him I only soak mine once a week for 30 minutes and his jaw dropped - made me wonder how many people just follow the default settings without thinking?

lol honestly I used to be the same way, I thought you had to drench your lawn every day or it would die. But then my water bill hit like $200 and I started actually researching it, and turns out deep soaking once or twice a week is way better for the roots anyway. Your neighbor is probably wasting so much water for no reason, that timer thing is wild.

Hold on, $200 for a water bill? That's insane, @owens.laura. I don't know where you live but mine barely cracks $50 in the summer and I thought that was bad. I just switched to once a week deep watering and my lawn actually looks greener. Plus, I haven't seen a single fungus spot since I stopped spraying it every day like a fool.

Heard from a guy who works with soil that deep watering also stops fungus from growing.
