Put the fire pit on the patio slab in 2019, and my blackened grass still hasn't forgiven me
I picked a $90 steel fire bowl over digging a proper stone ring with a gravel base, and 5 years later in Kansas City I'm still staring at that dead patch, so does anyone have a fix that isn't just waiting for the sod to crawl back in?
My brother did the same thing with his grill and that spot is still bald 7 years later, it's like the soil underneath gets cooked and just gives up. You could dig out a few inches of that dead dirt and toss down some new topsoil and seed, or just cheat and put a big potted plant over it like the rest of us do.
Digging it out might work but usually the problem goes deeper, like the heat killed off the good stuff in the soil way further down than you'd think. @johnson.eva could try mixing in some compost too, that seems to help bring dead dirt back to life better than just topsoil alone.
