My cake was a total brick until I tried something my grandma said

Honestly, I was making a chocolate cake for my friend's birthday and it came out dense and dry three times in a row. Ngl, I was desperate so I used hot coffee instead of water in the box mix like she always does. Has anyone else had a simple swap save a recipe from disaster?

Oh man, that coffee trick is a lifesaver! My brownies were always so dry until I started using melted butter instead of oil from the box directions. It sounds small but it makes them so much fudgier and rich. I'll never go back.

My mom's secret is adding a whole extra egg to boxed pancake mix for fluffier results every time.

Wait, using melted butter instead of oil is great for flavor, but it can actually make brownies more cakey, not fudgier. Oil keeps them moist and dense because it's 100% fat. Butter has water that steams and lifts the batter. For super fudgy brownies, you want to stick with the oil or even try mayo.
