Wasted $80 on a "magic" clipper blade sharpener off Instagram

Honestly saw this ad for a blade sharpener that claimed to make any clipper cut like new in 30 seconds. I bought it for $80, waited two weeks for shipping, and the thing barely took any burr off a dull blade. Tried it on three different clippers and they all still pulled hair like crazy. Ended up having to send my blades to a real sharpening shop anyway and paid another $40. Ngl I should have just done that from the start. Has anyone else fallen for those Instagram barber gadgets or is it just me?

That Instagram stuff is a scam, I just mail mine to a sharpener for $12.

Hear me out @jennybailey, is it really that deep though? Like yeah Instagram can be full of overpriced hype but so can mail-in sharpeners too. I've seen people pay $12 to get a knife back looking worse than when they sent it. Not saying all mail-in services are trash but acting like there's only one way to do it feels kinda close-minded. At the end of the day a sharp knife is a sharp knife, doesn't matter how you get there.

Man I got burned by the same damn ad last year. Best thing you can do is just find a legit sharpening shop local to you and skip all the internet gimmicks.
