That $75 'professional' contract template I bought was a total waste
I dropped $75 on a fancy contract template from some legal site last month thinking it would save me time, but it was so full of jargon I had to pay a lawyer $200 to explain it to me. Ended up just using a free one I found on a forum instead and it works way better. Anyone else get burned buying expensive templates that turned out to be useless?

$75 just for a template that needed a lawyer to explain it sounds rough, but was it really that big of a deal? I mean, you ended up with a free one that works, so it's not like the world ended over a bad purchase.

Did you actually read the free one before using it, or did you just assume it was solid because it was free?

i paid $80 for a template once that was supposed to be "boilerplate ready" and it still had clauses that made no sense without a lawyer reading it first lol. the free one i found on a legal aid site was actually written in plain english and had way less legalese. sometimes free stuff is just better because it's made by people who actually use it not by companies trying to upsell you on revisions.
