PSA: I spent $300 on a standing desk converter and it was a total waste for me

I kept seeing other freelancers rave about them for beating back pain and staying focused. I got the VariDesk model, thinking it would change my whole workday. Turns out I just hate standing up to work, and now it's a very expensive monitor stand. Anyone have a better solution for staying active during long hours that doesn't cost a fortune?

My $250 Jarvis riser is just a glorified shelf now.

What about just setting a timer to stretch every hour? I found that moving a little bit often helps more than standing all day, and it costs nothing. Pat Harris, maybe we should both try that before buying more gear.

Grace has a point about the timer, but it's easy to ignore. The real trick is linking the stretch to something you already do, like getting up after a meeting ends. Pat Harris, maybe tie it to checking your email so it becomes a habit instead of another chore.
