That fancy hydraulic brake bleed kit I thought was overpriced actually saved me 2 hours yesterday
Bought one of those Park Tool bleed kits a few months ago after fighting with a turkey baster and tubing for way too long. Figured it was just a waste of money for something I could rig up. Did a full bleed on a customer's Shimano XT brakes yesterday and it took me like 15 minutes start to finish. No mess, no air bubbles stuck in the line, no cursing. Kinda pissed I didn't get one sooner. Anyone else have a tool they were dead wrong about?

Nah, I totally thought bleed kits were a scam too. Changed my mind quick.

You said you "changed your mind quick" but I still think they're mostly a scam. The marketing makes it sound like you'll bleed out in 2 minutes without one, but in reality most wounds you can just press a cloth on and it stops. Plus the price on these kits is ridiculous - $30 for some gauze and a bandage? The tourniquets in them are the cheap plastic kind that break half the time too. If you really want one you can piece together the same stuff from a pharmacy for under $10.

...yeah I'm with you on that one. Had the same exact thing with a set of cable cutters. Bought the cheap wire cutters from the hardware store thinking it's the same thing. Stupid mistake. Then a snapped cable whipped my arm and left a bruise for a week. Picked up the real cable cutters after that. Clean cut every time now. No more sketchy frayed ends.
