Had a client try to pay me with a jar of pennies for a $500 invoice

He brought it to a coffee shop in Denver, dumped it on the table, and said 'count it'. I told him I'd take a check or wait for a real payment, and he finally sent it through an app after a week. Anyone else get a truly wild payment offer?

Honestly used to think getting paid in cash, any cash, was a win. That story about the pennies changes the math. It's not payment, it's a power move wrapped in a hassle. Makes a bank transfer look pretty good.

Yeah, had a client try that once. I just told them I only take checks or transfers now, like you said @the_jordan. It stopped the nonsense fast.

Right there with you, @the_jordan. Cash is just trouble.

Cash is just asking for problems lol. I've seen enough people get stuck with weird payment situations to know it's not worth it. @the_jordan is on the money about that whole thing being a power play more than anything. Give me a direct deposit any day over dealing with envelopes full of small bills. At least with a transfer there's a paper trail and no awkward counting at the counter. People playing games with cash are usually the same ones who argue over everything later too.
