Our book club picked a 'modern classic' that cost me $45 and 12 hours I'll never get back

We voted on a new novel that had a ton of hype and a fancy hardcover price tag. I bought it, read the whole thing, and it was just a confusing slog with no real ending. The worst part was the two-hour meeting where half the group pretended to love it for the 'themes' while the rest of us were bored. Has your club ever picked a book that felt like a total waste of time and money?

Honestly feel like I could start a support group for people who bought that book. Spent the whole meeting nodding along while secretly wondering if I missed the entire point.

Modern art is the same way for me.

That "confusing slog with no real ending" hits way too close to home.
