Pissed I spent $85 on that "must read" book club pick last month and it was complete garbage

Buddy of mine got talked into that same book club, paid the $85, and the book was basically a guy complaining about his expensive divorce for 300 pages. He kept waiting for some big plot twist or deep insight and it just never showed up. Ended up using it to level a wobbly table at his apartment. Said it was the most useful that book ever was.

And here I was thinking $85 was the price for a bad tattoo, not a bad book. At least with a bad tattoo you get a funny story and a laser removal bill later. That guy should've just taped the table leg with the receipt, would've gotten more use out of the $85 that way honestly. But hey, now we all know which book to avoid like a bad hangover. Sorry you got suckered into that mess, but thanks for taking one for the team.

Oh man, that sucks but I totally get it. I fell for the same trap with a different book club, paid $90 for some bestselling self-help thing and it was literally just "be positive" repeated 200 times with a few celebrity stories thrown in. I kept checking my page count thinking there had to be more to it, but nope, just recycled advice my mom gave me for free. I ended up leaving it on a park bench hoping some stranger would get a laugh out of how bad it was. Lesson learned, never again.
