Vent: My book club just hit 50 meetings and I realized something weird

Honestly, I was updating our group spreadsheet and saw the count. We started in a Denver coffee shop three years ago. Tbh, I thought we'd maybe talk about the books, but after 50 meetings, the biggest fights are never about the plot. It's always about whether a character's bad choice was 'realistic' or just bad writing. Has your group had that same shift from talking about the story to judging the author's skill?

Started a rule where we have to find one thing the author did well before tearing apart a choice. It helps.

Wait, you guys are still talking about the books? We just drink wine and complain about our jobs now.

That rule sounds like a good way to keep things balanced.
