Hit $500 in grocery savings last month and I was shocked

I started tracking what I actually spend on food a few months ago. Last month I added up my receipts and realized I only spent $350 total for me and my partner. That's down from like $850 back in January. The big change was just cooking from what's in the pantry before buying anything new. Has anyone else noticed a bigger drop than they expected when they actually start tracking?

Same thing happened to me! I cut my monthly total by almost half just by using up random cans and frozen stuff before hitting the store.

My friend Sarah did this last month and she was so proud of herself. She found a can of black beans from like 2022 and mixed it with some frozen corn and rice she had. Ended up making enough chili for 4 days and saved like $30 on that weeks groceries.

See, I actually had the OPPOSITE experience @viola_garcia56. I tried this and ended up with a bunch of mediocre meals that just made me want to order pizza, so I didn't save ANYthing in the long run.
