Always thought hostels were for broke college kids, just got proven wrong at 35

Stayed at a hostel in Lisbon last week cause it was $25 a night and honestly the private room was cleaner than most hotels I've been to. Has anyone else had their mind changed about something they swore they'd never do?

Absolutely agree - I stayed at one in Barcelona last year and was blown away by the rooftop bar and how social it was. Totally changed my view on what hostels can be.

That place in Barcelona was actually a hotel, not a hostel.

Totally agree with you man... stayed at one in Porto last month and the common area had this huge balcony with views of the river. Met some cool people from like five different countries just hanging out there. Really opened my eyes to how nice hostels can be when you pick the right one.
