My phone became my main camera after a mishap in Barcelona

I used to haul my DSLR everywhere, sure it was needed for quality travel photos. On a trip to Barcelona, my camera got snatched from my bag. With no other option, I relied on my smartphone for pictures. The images were sharp and colorful, much to my surprise. I also saved a ton on gear insurance and extra baggage fees. Now, I only bring my phone and a pocket-sized tripod. It's liberating and lets me allocate more funds toward unique local experiences!

Ngl, Barcelona pickpockets are next level. Honestly that sounds like a pretty liberating way to travel though.

My friend's phone vanished in two seconds flat there.

Totally get that. Had the same shift after my camera got soaked in Lisbon. Phone shots actually turned out great and it's so much less stuff to worry about now.

Oh man, that's rough about Lisbon. I read a whole article about how phone cameras have gotten so good they're changing how people travel. @abby_fisher, your friend's story is exactly why I keep mine on a strap now.
