Overheard a couple at the airport arguing about a $50 checked bag fee

Honestly, I was waiting for my flight to Denver and this guy was mad his wife packed too much. She said she needed options, but he kept saying they could have washed stuff at the hotel. It made me realize I always overpack too. Now I just bring a carry-on and plan to do a quick sink wash of my shirts halfway through the trip. Has anyone else cut their luggage down to just a backpack and made it work?

Wait, you only packed three shirts for five days? That's wild. I'd be so stressed about spilling something.

My trip to Chicago last month was the first time I tried a single backpack for a five day work trip, and it was a game changer. I packed three shirts, two pairs of pants, and just rolled everything up tight. Did a quick sink wash of my favorite shirt on night three and it was dry by morning. It feels so much better not to be dragging a huge suitcase around, and you never have to wait at baggage claim. I'm never going back to checking a bag unless I absolutely have to.

What kind of backpack did you use, @claire_ross61? I always worry about my clothes getting super wrinkled when I roll them...
