Just saw a grocery store in Springfield put the price per ounce on every single shelf tag
I was shopping at the new Fresh Mart on Oak Street yesterday and noticed they added the unit price right next to the total price on every tag. It made comparing a big bag of rice to a small one so easy. I ended up buying the bigger bag because the price per pound was way lower, even though the total cost was higher. It saved me about $8 over the month because I buy a lot of rice. I wish more stores did this to help people see the real cost. Do you have any other tricks for spotting the best deals at the store?

Oh that's awesome, more stores need to do that. My only trick is to check the very top and bottom shelves, the mid-priced stuff is always at eye level.

Honestly it's just basic math, not some huge consumer revolution.

Wait, vera29 has a point though. People act like buying store brand beans is a life hack. It's just choosing the cheaper option, which we've all done forever. Calling it a "movement" feels like we're making a big deal out of normal shopping. What's next, a social media trend for clipping coupons?
