The zero-based budget trial that flipped my opinion in 3 days

I always thought zero-based budgeting was for people with too much time on their hands. Last month in Columbus, I had a random $200 windfall from a side gig, and I figured I'd try it for one week just to see. I gave every dollar a job on Sunday night, including a $15 buffer for coffee slips. By Wednesday I realized I hadn't checked my bank app once, which never happens. The real kicker was Friday when a $40 car repair popped up and I actually had a category for it. I used to think tracking every cent was controlling, but now I see it as freedom. Has anyone else had a budgeting method change their mind after one quick trial? What made it stick for you?

Kinda jealous of that feeling, man. That moment where stuff just clicks and you realize you've been fighting your money instead of working with it is something else. Good on you for giving it a real shot even when it sounded like a pain.

Yeah, I read somewhere that most people spend years just reacting to money instead of planning with it. Wild, right?
