Found a way to stop my weekly layout from falling apart by Tuesday
I kept making these huge weekly spreads with tons of boxes for tasks, but by Wednesday I'd have half the boxes empty and stuff written in the margins. Last month I tried a running log style instead, just a single vertical line with time markers and only noting down what actually happened. Now I spend 5 minutes each morning jotting things as they come, and my book actually gets used instead of abandoned. Has anyone else found a layout that they had to totally scrap before something clicked?

webb.hannah that line about "felt like I was giving up on being organized" really hit me because I went through the exact same thing when I ditched my bujo. What did it actually take for you to finally let go of that perfect layout idea? Like was there one specific moment where you just snapped or was it more of a slow realization that the system was failing you?

Oh man, yeah, I totally get this. I had this whole color coded system too with washi tape and everything and I'd spend like an hour every Sunday setting it up. Then by Wednesday I'd have sticky notes all over because the layout didn't have room for my actual life. @the_rose I finally snapped when I found a half filled notebook from two years ago that I'd completely forgotten about. That was the moment I realized I was spending more time planning being organized than actually being organized. Now I just use a plain notebook and write down stuff as it happens, and it's crazy how much less stressed I feel about it. My handwriting is a mess but at least I actually use the thing now.

Three full years I spent trying to make those big boxed layouts work. I had a whole color coding system with highlighters and stickers and everything. By Tuesday afternoon I'd be scribbling appointments in the margins because I forgot to leave room for the random stuff that always pops up. Switching to the running log style was honestly painful at first, felt like I was giving up on being organized. But now my notebook actually has writing in it past page five, which is more than I can say for the fifteen other planners I bought.
