Tried a weekly spread with columns instead of running lists and it’s way better for me
I used to do the standard bullet journal running list where you just write tasks day by day down the page. After 6 months I kept losing track of what was urgent vs what could wait. Last month I switched to a weekly spread with 7 columns, one for each day, and a small section at the bottom for notes. Turns out seeing the whole week at once helps me stop overscheduling myself. I also color code with just two markers now instead of ten, which saves me like 15 minutes every Sunday. The only downside is I go through pages faster since each week takes a full spread. Has anyone else tried columns and found it actually made you more productive or less?

Two markers saving you fifteen minutes every Sunday? That seems like a lot.

Wait, isn't the whole point of saving time that you spend less time drawing grids and more time actually writing stuff down? I saw a video where someone said they use a stamp instead and it takes like 30 seconds, which is way faster than any markers. @corap61 has a good point about burning through pages though, I definitely go through notebooks faster since I started making my layouts simpler.

Are you really saving that much time if you're burning through pages twice as fast now? I feel like the whole point of bullet journaling is to slow down and be intentional, not to race through a notebook every month. Plus, with only two markers you're basically just making a grid, not exactly doing any real planning or reflection. Seems like you swapped one problem for another, honestly. But hey, if it makes you feel organized, more power to you.

@perry.jesse is onto something with that stamp idea, I saw a post where someone carved their own and it changed their whole setup. Two markers might be fast for a basic grid but you're right about burning through paper, I'm already noticing my notebook getting thin. Have you ever tried the stamp approach or just stuck to drawing it out?
