Spent $400 on a digital meat thermometer that connects to my phone, but half the time it drops the Bluetooth signal while the roast is in the oven.
The app tells me the temp is holding steady at 130, but when I open the door and check with a cheap analog probe it reads 145, so now I'm back to using the old wired probe I got for 12 bucks at a restaurant supply store in Birmingham. Has anyone else had this issue with wireless probes dropping signal at the worst moments?

That "holding steady at 130" part is probably the probe not updating the app after it disconnects, not the actual temp. Bluetooth just isn't reliable through a closed metal oven door.

That's the thing about Bluetooth in general these days. People expect it to work like magic through walls and appliances, but it's still just radio waves that can't handle much interference. Kind of like how my garage door opener can't reach the car if I'm standing in the wrong spot in the driveway.

Totally agree @danielowens. Ovens are basically Faraday cages.
