That Wednesday shift in 1999 when the whole town came in for a pig roast
Back in the late 90s, I worked at a shop outside Richmond where one Wednesday turned into pure chaos - every customer in a 10 mile radius wanted a whole hog for the weekend. I ended up breaking down 14 pigs that day by myself because my helper called in sick, and my hands ached for a week after. Has anyone else had one of those days where the walk-in just fills up with orders you can't say no to?

Heard about this from a buddy who worked at a BBQ joint in South Carolina back then. Said the owner got a call about some big family reunion needing 20 whole hogs, and they showed up at 6am on a Wednesday with no warning. My guy had to run to three different suppliers just to find enough pigs, then spent the whole day prepping and rubbing while the owner ran the smoker like a madman. They finished up around midnight with smoke still rolling off their clothes. He still talks about his hands being so greased up he couldn't grip a beer bottle for two days.

Man, @rowanw91 that reminds me of the time I showed up to a property showing and the seller was still smoking ribs in the driveway.

Adam186, always a good idea to ask the seller upfront if they're planning any cooking or projects that day. You can save yourself a lot of waiting by just rescheduling for after they're done. Nothing worse than standing around hungry while ribs smoke and you can't even grab one, right?
