Found vintage barn wood for a table, but it might be from a historic site. | Cabinetmakers - Freelance Forum - The Community for Independent Professionals
Picked up some beams from a torn down church in Ohio last year. Had that same sick feeling until I did some digging. Found out it was just a modern addition from the 1980s.
Oh man, @beng51 is totally right. I once spent a week feeling bad about some floorboards until I found a 1992 gum wrapper stuck under one. The real curse is how much we overpay for stuff that's basically just our own childhood junk now.
That colonial-era guilt hits hard, doesn't it? You could probably convince yourself it's from a revolutionary war latrine. Turns out most of this stuff is from a shed that saw its best days holding someone's lawnmower in 1997. Guess my new table won't be screaming in historical anguish after all.
