Got stuck on a simple miter joint for way too long

I was building a display case for a client in Portland and spent almost 4 hours trying to get a single miter joint to close up perfect on some walnut. Turns out my table saw blade was a little dirty and I didn't notice until I cleaned it halfway through. Anyone else have a dumb mistake eat up half a day like that?

Nah, but a dirty blade is the worst - sneakier than a bad fence.

Wait, are we talking about actual fence building or is that a metaphor for something else? I learned the hard way that a dirty lawnmower blade can leave a ragged cut that's way worse than a slightly dull one. That's probably the same idea with fences.
