PSA: A talk with my insurance agent changed how I see my shop's dust
I was renewing my policy last week and mentioned I keep my cyclone collector clean. He said, 'That's good, but the fine stuff you can't see is what can really go up.' He told me about a claim he handled where a shop's air filter was clogged and a spark from a sander set it off. Now I'm looking at adding an air scrubber, something I always thought was extra. Has anyone put one in a smaller shop, like under 800 square feet?

Totally get it now. That fine dust is no joke. I put a basic wall mounted unit in my garage shop and it made a huge difference. My sinuses thanked me and the air just feels cleaner. It was easier than I thought to set up, just needed an outlet. I mean, it's not cheap but way cheaper than a fire or breathing that stuff in forever.

Nice! The wall mount ones are solid. I ran a cheap box fan with a furnace filter taped to it for years as a stopgap, but the real air cleaner is a game changer. Lets you actually see the dust get pulled out of the air.

Which filter did you go with, @tyler_young?

My sinuses are still mad at me for all those woodworking years.
