Just realized my worst attic crawl was 10 years ago this month in a Tucson summer

Found a whole nest of chewed coax and had to re-run 200 feet of line with a heat index of 115, which took the rest of the day. Anyone have a go-to rodent-proof cable they swear by now?

Honestly I'd skip trying to find a perfect cable and just make the whole space less inviting. After a bad chew job I started putting mint oil on a rag and leaving it near the entry points. Rodents hate the smell and will often leave the area alone. It's cheap, you just refresh it every few months, and it might save you from having to replace anything at all. Sometimes the best fix is just convincing them to chew somewhere else lol.

My buddy tried that mint oil trick but the mice just chewed right through the rag to get to his wires.

My uncle in Phoenix swears by using metal flex conduit for any new cable runs in his attic. He had squirrels chew through regular PVC conduit twice. The metal stuff is a pain to bend but nothing gets through it. He just slides the cables through it before the final install. I guess the extra cost is worth not having to go back up there.
