My uncle swore by a $12 tarp from Harbor Freight for a week in the Uintas, he was right
My uncle Dale has been camping in the Uintas outside Kamas, Utah for 30 years and he keeps telling me to skip the fancy tarps. Last June I finally took his advice and grabbed the cheap blue 8x10 one for $12, and it rained on us for two straight nights. That thing never leaked and folded up smaller than my old $70 tarp. Anyone else run cheap tarps as their main shelter, or did I just get lucky with this one?
Two straight nights of rain is a real test, so what did you do about seam sealing on that blue tarp? Every cheap one I've bought leaked right along the ridgeline within a trip or two.
