Found out most job postings are fake and it changed how I search

I read a study from Clarify Capital that said up to 40% of online job listings are never filled. They just sit there to collect resumes or make the company look like it's growing. Has anyone else noticed this in their own job hunt?

Started off thinking people were just being dramatic when they said job listings were fake. Believed it was more about companies being slow to take them down or getting ghosted by candidates. Then I spent a month applying to around 80 positions and maybe 10 actually got back to me. Looked closer and saw the same listings reposted every few weeks with slightly different titles. Now I filter by "posted within last 3 days" and only apply if the company has a clear history of hiring recently. Saved me a ton of wasted effort.

Up to 40% are never filled" yeah that tracks with everything else being fake lately.

Does it feel like everything's just kind of... hollow these days? I've been noticing the same thing in other areas too, like ghost kitchens popping up everywhere but half the delivery orders never get fulfilled. Or all those "we're hiring" stickers on store windows that stay up for months. It's like companies are putting on a show of being active and in demand when they're really just treading water. Makes you wonder how much of what we see online is actually real versus just for appearances.
