Picked the lower paying job with better hours, zero regrets 8 months in
Back in February I had two offers. One was $68k at a marketing firm in Austin, standard 9 to 6 but they expected after-hours email replies. The other was $58k at a small nonprofit, 8 to 4 with no on-call expectation. I took the nonprofit. Eight months later my stress levels are way down, I actually use my evenings, and the health insurance is better. The pay gap is real but I'm not burning out. Has anyone else taken a pay cut for schedule and found it worth it or not?
