Tried the Seaming Iron Trick vs A Heat Gun for Stair Nose
Last Thursday I had a tricky stair nose that just wouldn't lay flat with the standard seaming iron. I remembered a guy on YouTube using a heat gun on low to soften the backing, so I gave it a shot on a scrap piece. The heat gun worked way faster and I got a flatter seam with less scorching on the vinyl. Has anyone else switched to a heat gun for those curved areas or am I just lucky?

lol "standard seaming iron" yeah right, those things are useless on anything that isn't perfectly flat. i tried a heat gun once on a corner piece and it worked so fast i almost melted my gloves off. but hey, at least the seam was flat right? my scrap piece looked way better than the actual floor i was working on so maybe i just got lucky too.

Saw a guy on YouTube use a hair dryer on seams once, @kim_mason55, worked way better than that iron nonsense.

Wait hold on @kim_mason55 you almost melted your gloves off with a heat gun? I tried that on a tight curved stair nose last month and i swear i felt the heat through my glove tips... thought i was gonna burn my fingerprints off. That heat gun really does speed things up though, got way better control on the bend than my iron ever gave me.
