My biggest project ever ended with a client refusing to pay the final $5,000.
We agreed on a full website redesign for their Denver restaurant, and I delivered everything on their list. After launch, they said they 'weren't happy with the vibe' and stopped answering my emails. Has anyone gotten through a situation like this without taking it to court?

Sent a final invoice marked "FINAL NOTICE" with a clear due date and mentioned small claims court. Honestly, a strongly worded email from a lawyer friend got my last stubborn client to pay up fast, it cost me a favor but saved a huge headache. Sometimes just showing you're serious about legal action makes them fold. For that amount it's usually not worth their time to fight either.

But that could burn a bridge with a client forever, @the_rose.

Yeah, that bridge is already smoldering if they're refusing to pay what they owe. The rose has the right idea, you gotta show you're not messing around. It's amazing how fast a legal letterhead gets them to find their checkbook. Honestly, letting them walk all over you costs more in the long run.
