Corporate KPI dashboards looked like nonsense to me until one client showed me theirs
I used to think those fancy client dashboards were just for show. Numbers on a screen, who cares. Then a client in Columbus walked me through theirs and I saw they tracked response time on every single message. Not just projects, but every quick question. That's when it clicked. They weren't watching me to micromanage, they were using it to catch problems before they got big. Same data I already had, just organized in a way that made sense to them. Now I actually ask clients how they track things and it saves so much back and forth. Anyone else have a moment where a client's internal system finally made sense?

Three weeks of my life went into a dashboard the client never opened. They just wanted the weekly PDF like everyone else. I get that seeing response times in a grid can help flag stuff early, but it's still just a report with extra steps. Honestly, most clients care way more about the final price than how fast I answer a text.

Oh man, I've been there too @jessica331! I built a client portal once and they only ever asked me to text them the summary, so now I always ask what they actually want before I build anything fancy.
