Found a note in my file from 3 years ago that proved me wrong about a client's request
I was cleaning out old folders last night and found a note from a client back in 2021. They asked me to include a detailed timeline for every step of the project in our agreement. At the time I thought it was way too much and pushed back on it. Turns out that one timeline saved us both from three misunderstandings over the next 6 months. I had totally forgotten that I was the one who was wrong about that. Has anyone else looked back on an old client request and realized you were the one being difficult?

That timeline thing is smart. I had a similar situation where a client wanted me to check in every Friday with a status report. I thought it was a waste of time since nothing major changed week to week. But those quick check-ins caught a few small problems early before they turned into big ones. Sometimes the stuff that feels like extra work is actually the thing that keeps everything running smooth.
