Read something yesterday that made me think about how we handle client feedback

I saw a post from a project manager in Austin who said she stopped sending her clients those long status update emails and started making 5 minute voice memos instead. She said her client retention went up by 30% in 3 months. Made me wonder, have any of you switched up how you communicate with clients and seen a big shift in how they treat you?

I saw that same post. I think she was actually in San Diego not Austin, but the point stands. I tried voice memos with three of my bigger clients and two of them told me they preferred written updates because they could scan them later. One of them said they had trouble listening at their desk. Just something to keep in mind, not every client will respond the same way.

My voice memos sound like I'm recording from inside a pillow.

I get what you're saying about clients preferring written updates, but I disagree a little. For me, voice memos have been a game changer with a few of my own clients who told me they actually liked hearing my tone because it made the feedback feel more personal. I had one client who said my written updates felt too robotic, and switching to a quick 90 second voice memo fixed that completely. Also, not every client is going to love everything, so it's more about finding the ones who do click with this format. Have you tried asking your clients if they'd prefer a mix of both instead of just one or the other?
