Rant: My local park used to have community gardens, but now it's just grass

In my experience, years ago, my park had plots where neighbors grew veggies together. Now, it's all mowed lawn with no food growing. I think this shift wastes space that could help with local food and green habits. For example, we used to share tomatoes and reduce trips to the store. Now, I see more plastic bags from grocery runs. Take this with a grain of salt, but how can we bring back shared gardens? I'd like advice on starting a talk with the city council about it.

My zucchini crop once took over my backyard so badly I had to sneak it into baked goods for friends. Even with that mess, sharing homegrown food built more community than any grassy lawn ever could. You should bring up those good memories when you talk to the city, since gardens make people connect way more than plain grass does.

Remember when our library tried a seed swap that got totally overrun with zucchini.

Ever think about putting a hard limit on how many zucchini seeds one person can drop off? We had to start doing that after our community swap turned into a zucchini support group. It's always the zucchini.
