I was cleaning out my old toolbox and found my mechanical stethoscope. Used it all the time to find noisy bearings in motors. Now everything has a digital error code that tells you exactly what's wrong, or at least it tries to. You don't really have to figure out the sound of a bad pump anymore. It's handy, but I kinda miss that part of the job. It felt more like you were finding the problem yourself. You know what I mean?
