Rant: The air in Portland was so thick last Tuesday you could taste it

I was walking my dog and my eyes started stinging, which has never happened here before. It turned out smoke from a wildfire hundreds of miles away had settled in the valley overnight. What's the air quality like where you are right now?

I don't think we should just get used to it though. Calling it normal makes it seem okay, and it's really not. We gotta keep pushing for real change.

Honestly, that sounds pretty normal for this time of year now. I've lived in the West my whole life and smoky summers are just part of the deal. My air is clear today, but last week it was hazy. You get used to checking the air quality report along with the weather. It's a shame, but it's our new reality.
