Showerthought: I put a brick in my toilet tank in April and cut my water bill by $14
I read somewhere that toilets from the 90s use way more water than they need, so back in April I dropped a brick in the tank of my downstairs bathroom just to see what would happen. Three months later my bill is down about $14 a month and the thing still flushes fine, which makes me wonder why I never heard this sooner. Has anyone else done the brick thing, and did you run into problems later or did it hold up?
14 dollars a month from one brick is wild. My first thought is how are you not worried about the brick breaking down over time and messing up the flapper or getting lodged somewhere bad? That savings is real but I'd be checking that tank every couple months just to be safe.
