My kid asked why the microwave timer doesn't just count down from 60 when you press '1' and '0'.

It made me realize how much we accept weird, old design choices in tech without question, just like how I used to copy and paste code without really getting why it worked.

Honestly that line about copying code without getting it hit me hard. It's so true, we just accept these weird systems because they're what we learned first. The microwave thing is a perfect little example of that. We get used to the extra button presses and stop seeing how clunky it is. It's like we're all trained to work around old design instead of asking for better.
