Friend told me my pour-over technique was "aggressive" and I had to rethink everything

She came over last week and watched me make coffee. Said I was pouring too fast and too close to the grounds. I thought I was being efficient. Turns out I was just blasting the coffee bed like a fire hose. Changed to a slower spiral pour from higher up and the flavor improved a ton. Has anyone else had someone point out a basic flaw you didn't even notice?

Oh man, that's such a classic coffee moment (happened to me too). A friend watched me pour and just quietly said "you know you're splashing the grounds all over the sides, right?" Felt a little silly but honestly it was the best thing ever. Fixed my pour height and flow rate and suddenly my morning cup went from okay to actually good. It's wild how one tiny tweak can change everything about the flavor. Good on you for listening and trying something different instead of getting defensive.

I mean, is it really that serious though? It's coffee, not brain surgery, and most people are just trying to get caffeinated before they have to deal with their day. You fixed your pour technique and that's cool, but I bet you'd still drink it if it was a little splashed around the edges.

Isn't it funny how most bad habits in life are just tiny things we never notice until someone points them out?
