Just noticed every coffee shop in my neighborhood has switched to paper straws in the last two weeks

Wonder if paper straws actually help that much when the cups are still plastic. Feels like a small change that makes people feel better without fixing the real problem.

Exactly! It's like when they give you a paper bag but everything inside is wrapped in plastic. Makes zero sense. They're just doing the easiest thing to look good. We need to stop making so much plastic in the first place.

But isn't it better than doing nothing? At least it cuts down on some plastic.
