Question about bullet journal paper weight

I was setting up my new journal, a Leuchtturm1917, and decided to look up the paper weight out of curiosity. I always thought it was just 'thin paper'. I found the exact spec on their website, and it's 80 gsm. For some reason, I had it in my head that all nice notebooks were at least 100 gsm. It surprised me because my fountain pen ink never bleeds through, even though the number seems low. Has anyone else been caught off guard by a paper detail like that?

I just read that most people reuse the same password across 14 different sites

Found this stat in a report from a security company called SpyCloud. I mean, I knew password reuse was bad, but 14? That's insane. It really hit me how one data leak could unlock so much of someone's life. Has anyone here actually managed to use a different password for everything?

I argued with a friend in Denver that AI art was just copying, but she showed me a tool that builds new textures from scratch.

She pulled up a demo of a program called TextureForge that used a small set of base images to create a completely new, seamless pattern for her game in about 20 minutes, which made me see generative models as more than just mixers. A robin built a nest right on my patio light fixture last month

I first saw the start of it in early April, just a few twigs piled on top of the outdoor light by my back door. I left it alone, and within a week, a full nest was there with a robin sitting tight. It was wild to watch the whole process from my kitchen window. The parents took turns feeding the babies, and I could hear the little chirps every morning. They all flew off about three weeks later, and now the nest is just sitting there empty. I'm not sure if I should take it down now or leave it for next year. Has anyone had birds come back to use the same nest again?

Remembering the old way we used to torque those big engine mount bolts

Had a brand new digital torque wrench fail on me halfway through a job on a 737's right engine last Tuesday, so I had to dig out the old clicker from the bottom of my toolbox to finish up, which got me thinking about how much we rely on tech now compared to just feeling it out years ago.

My buddy spent a whole Tuesday trying to convince me the moon landing was faked

He came into the bar with a notebook, said he'd been watching videos for six hours straight. Started talking about flag movement and shadows, the whole bit. I just wanted to pour beers and talk about the game. By the end of his third coffee, he was showing me blurry photos on his phone from 1969. How do you even start to argue with someone who's that deep in? What's the weirdest 'proof' someone has hit you with?

I swapped to a new sand mix for our greensand molds last week.

We usually use a 50/50 blend, but I tried a 60/40 mix with more new sand on a small batch of gear castings. The molds held shape way better during pouring, but the surface finish came out rougher than I expected. I think the extra new sand didn't bond as well with the clay. Has anyone else run into this with a higher new sand ratio?

Vent: Found out my old boss was paying new hires more than me

I was cleaning out my desk last week and found a printed job offer for my replacement. It was for $5,000 more a year than my current salary. I'd been there for three years and trained the person. I found it stuck in a drawer under some old files. Has anyone else discovered something like this, and what did you do about it?

Update: I used a 4-foot level to check a 50-foot vinyl fence line in Phoenix and the ground slope tricked me into thinking it was perfect.

I mean, after the third panel went up looking off, I realized I should have used a string line from the start, so has anyone else had a simple tool fail them on a long run like that?

Found a cheap way to stop my comics from getting those annoying spine creases

I kept getting a single line down the middle of my new books after just one read. My friend Mike said to try using a piece of acid-free backing board behind the cover while I read. I cut one to size from an old art supply store board, and it totally works! The cover stays flat and the spine looks brand new. Has anyone else found a good trick like this for keeping floppies mint?
