My grinder kept making a weird noise and it took me a month to figure out why
It started with a small click during grinding, so I cleaned everything out. I took apart the burrs twice and checked for rocks in the beans. The real fix was finding a tiny piece of chipped ceramic from an old mug stuck deep in the grounds chute. How do you usually track down odd sounds in your gear?

That thing about the chipped ceramic piece is so familiar. It's always the last place you look, after you've checked all the obvious spots. I see this pattern everywhere, not just with gear. You fix the loud, easy problems first and miss the quiet, hidden one causing the real trouble. It's like what @the_sage hinted at with checking dark spots, you have to shine a light on the exact right corner. My brain just wants to solve the big noise, not hunt for the tiny, silent cause.

Ever try a flashlight in the dark spots?

Oh, a flashlight. Yeah, that's the first thing I grab when I'm poking around a creepy basement corner. Right after I check my will is up to date. I usually just end up blinding myself and seeing more weird shapes.

But what's the weirdest shape you've ever seen down there? Like, was it just a pile of junk or something that made you nope out for good?
