PSA: Don't buy that $80 electric pour-over kettle
I dropped 80 bucks on a fancy temperature-controlled kettle last month and honestly my old stovetop one makes better coffee. The electric one heats unevenly and the spout drips everywhere. Anyone else go back to a basic kettle after wasting money?

My friend spent $60 on one of those and it broke after 3 months so she went back to using a saucepan on the stove and says her coffee tastes way better now.

Patricia hit the nail on the head with that rust thing. My brother bought a fancy kettle for his pour-over setup and the lid hinge snapped off after two weeks. He still uses it with a rubber band holding it on, refuses to admit defeat. @hollyscott my buddy does the saucepan method too, swears by it. I just use my grandma's old whistling kettle from the 70s, thing's indestructible.

My $80 kettle started rusting inside after two months, so now I just boil water in a regular pot and pour it through my Chemex. @hollyscott you're spot on about that saucepan trick, my coffee is way more consistent without the fancy gadget messing with the temperature. I feel like these companies just sell us on features we don't actually need for a decent cup.
