Update: I was grinding my beans right before brewing for years, but switching to grinding them the night before for my 5 AM pot has actually made my morning coffee smoother.
The overnight rest seems to mellow the acidity just enough that I can actually enjoy the first cup without waiting for it to cool, so has anyone else found a weird prep step that improved their routine?

Grinding the night before is a level of morning planning I can only dream of. My pre-coffee brain can barely find the machine, let alone remember a task from the night before. You've basically turned your kitchen into a coffee time capsule, and I'm weirdly impressed. Guess my chaotic brew is just gonna have to stay aggressively acidic.

Honestly that pre-coffee fog is a real thing. My brain just refuses to form a single useful thought until the first sip hits. The whole night before grinding setup sounds smart, but it's like planning for a different person who doesn't exist yet. My morning self would absolutely forget to use the pre-ground beans anyway. So yeah, aggressively acidic and chaotic it is, that's just the brand.

Actually the grounds lose flavor pretty fast after grinding.
