Hit 1,000 issues in my collection last weekend and didn't even realize it
I was reorganizing my long boxes to make room for the new Teen Titans run and decided to actually count everything. Turned out I crossed the 1,000 mark about 50 comics ago without noticing. Most of them are random 90s X-Men and random indie books I grabbed for a buck at a flea market in Portland. Has anyone else lost track of their total count and then got surprised by a big round number?

Oh man, I used to keep a running Excel spreadsheet of every single issue I owned. I thought it was the only way to stay organized. But after a while I stopped updating it and just started stacking books wherever they fit. Then one day I was boxing up stuff to move and found a long box I forgot I even had. Counted everything up and I had passed 1,200 without any clue. That Portland flea market haul probably pushed me over too, cheap books add up fast.

The real hidden treasure was always the boxes I forgot I owned.

The Portland flea market deal got me too. I found a seller there who had stacks of old Vertigo books for fifty cents each and I grabbed like forty of them without even thinking. That kind of stuff just sneaks up on you. I ended up doing the same thing with a spare long box I had stuffed in the back of my closet, found it full of late 90s Uncanny X-Men I forgot I even bought. Counting everything out loud made me realize I was way over 1,000 without ever keeping a formal list.
