Can we talk about the shift in how I used to find hidden info on people vs now
Back in 2015 I could dig up someone's old MySpace page just from their email and a few guesses at passwords, felt like a detective. Now everything's locked behind two-factor and privacy settings, I pay $20 a month for a people search site and still get half the facts wrong. It's wild how fast the playing field changed, did the internet get safer or just harder to navigate for anyone not a pro?

I read that NYT tech guy who wrote about how OSINT tools basically stopped working for normal people around 2018 when GDPR hit. It's like the whole internet went from open house to locked apartment building overnight.

Open house to locked apartment building" is brutal lmao. I didn't realize it was that sudden with GDPR but yeah, that explains a lot. Means all those old-school public data tools just died overnight? Wild.

Literally had to explain this to my dad the other day when he couldn't figure out why his favorite background check site suddenly showed nothing useful. He was mad about it for like 20 minutes.
