Overhead framing in a Reno warehouse taught me a trick I'd never seen
I was helping a buddy frame out a mezzanine in Sparks last month and noticed he never measured his top plate twice. He just eyeballed the layout from the floor joists and nailed it. Has anyone else tried skipping the double-check on overhead work or am I asking for trouble?

Oh man, you're totally right! I learned that lesson the hard way with my own kitchen reno. I measured once for the countertop, thought I was being quick, and ended up with a three-inch gap that I had to hide with a trim piece. The inspector took one look and gave me that long, slow sigh (you know the one). Now I'm a fanatic about measuring twice, checking my level three times, and even taking a photo for my own reference. It saves so much drama when they show up with their clipboard and that critical eye.
