Always hated mixing mud by hand till a drywaller in Nashville showed me why I was wrong

I used to swear by the box mixer attachment for my drill. Thought anyone mixing buckets with a paddle was wasting time. Then this older guy on a job site saw me struggling with a lumpy batch and said "you're spinning it too fast, you're just whipping air into it." He showed me how slow and steady actually breaks down the powder way better. Tried it his way for a week and the finish was way smoother. No more pinholes to fix later. Anyone else get called out on a dumb habit like that?

Nothing worse than fixing pinholes. Slow paddle changed everything for me too.

And @abby_fisher hit the nail on the head for me too. I started using a slower paddle to cut down on those tiny fixes, and it made a huge difference in how long my work lasts. Less frustration, more time actually making stuff.
